Great family fun day out at Silent Valley

Great family fun day out at Silent Valley

9 August 2017

NORTHERN Ireland Water is hosting a family fun day at the Silent Valley mountain park next weekend.

The August 20 event is being organised in co-operation with the Mourne Landscape Partnership and there will be a host of activities on the day.

Event organiser, Anna Killen, described the the Silent Valley event as a “not-to-be missed extravaganza for all the family, with something for everyone.”

She said Darragh Folk will be providing the music with the ever-popular Babcock and Bobbin kids’ entertainers alongside face painting and glitter tattoos.

‘‘Even the culture vultures are accounted for as we also have black smith and woodturning demonstrations organised by the Mourne Landscape Partnership, as well as storytellers with stories of what life was like for those who constructed the dam as a water site nearly 100 years ago,” Anna continued.

“There’s no better way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon than in the wonderful surroundings of Silent Valley, being serenaded and enjoying the many activities.”

Camilla Fitzpatrick, the Mourne Mountains Landscape Partnership’s scheme manager added: “We are delighted to partner with NI Water to raise awareness of the rich industrial and cultural heritage of this amazing site.”
