Full facts were not disclosed

SIR —  Last week’s letter signed by ‘Progressive’ did not correctly reflect the facts over the delays in funding for the proposed upgrade of Irish Street in Downpatrick.

The cause of the delay is a dispute between Newry, Mourne and Down Council officials and planners over what type of paving will be used in the project.

The Down Recorder correctly highlighted my concern that the funding for the scheme could be lost and that the project was a year behind schedule.

The paper also reported that I have requested a meeting with senior council officials and planners to thrash out an agreement on how to move this project forward. I have the support of my fellow councillors for this move.

Yours etc,

CLLR CADOGAN

ENRIGHT,

Downpatrick.
