Frasier’s charity recital in aid of Alzheimer’s Society

25 January 2017

A TALENTED St Patrick’s Grammar School student has organised a charity music recital in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Frasier Hickland, a final year student who is also deputy head boy, has already received a Licentiate Diploma in Piano Performance from Trinity College of Music, London.

His recital programme including works by Chopin and Rachmaninov will be performed on Sunday, February 12, in the St Patrick’s Pastoral Centre, Chapel Hill, Lisburn at 3pm.

Explaining his motivation, Frasier said: “I decided that I wanted to give something back to the community and to help those less fortunate than myself.

“With so many charities needing support, I found the decision to pick one incredibly difficult. However, during the Christmas period I received a music magazine which had several leaflets inside and I immediately noticed a Christmas appeal from the Alzheimer’s Society; coincidently, one of my friends had told me not so long ago about caring for a relative with dementia.

“I took it as a sign and so I have begun fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society because I believe that their work is essential in providing support, not only to those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, but also to their families and friends.”

Frasier added: “There is still so much yet to be discovered about this complex disease and I am honoured to support the charity in any way I can.

“Please join me there so we can fight dementia together.”

Tickets for the recital cost £5, including a complimentary programme and refreshments. Limited tickets are available from St. Patrick’s Grammar School, Downpatrick and Assumption Grammar School Library, Ballynahinch.
