Fairs planned to ease back to school costs

19 July 2017

TWO back-to-school fairs are being held in Downpatrick to help ease the financial burden on parents as children prepare for the new school term.

The Children’s and Young People’s Strategic Partnership is hosting the events, the first of which takes place next Thursday, July 27, between 10am and noon at the Ballymote Community Centre.

The second event will be held at the Down Leisure Centre on Thursday, August 16, between 1pm and 3pm.

The Partnership’s Down Locality Planning Group is supporting families to get ready for school via the two fairs which have been organised following a large donation of good quality school uniforms over the past few months. Free clothing on offer includes school blazers, skirts, trousers, polo shirts.

The various items for primary and post-primary schools in the Downpatrick area have been collected over the past number of weeks with the fairs designed to make this time of year a little less stressful for parents whose children return to school at the end of next month.
