Emergency clothing needed for homeless

SIR, — I would like to make an appeal on behalf of the homeless. Recently we have seen the closure of many charity shops which provided much appreciated emergency clothing to the homeless.

Nowadays people are sending their unwanted items to the recyclers which a profit driven enterprise for everyone involved.

Every day I see the need to provide emergency clothing for the homeless men that I work with so I would appeal to your readers to keep the homeless in mind whenever they are clearing out their wardrobes.

Anyone wishing to donate their unwanted items can contact me at anytime to make arrangements.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of The Simon Shop in Ballynahinch which is sadly now closed, I know from past experience that they always went out of their way to assist in the most practical ways whenever requests for help were sent their way.

We have to continue to support the homeless now more than ever, readers may think that homelessness will never impact them in their lifetime, but someday it might.

Yorus etc.,

EDMUND McCULLOUGH,

Simon Community.
