Mr. James Thompson
THE death has taken place of Downpatrick man, Mr. James Patrick Thompson. He was 82.
He passed away at the Downe Hospital on December 15 last year and was known to all as Jimmy. Mr. Thompson lived at the Lindisfarne Road in the town and prior to his retirement worked as a pipe coverer with a number of various firms.
He moved to Downpatrick in 1983, was a doorman at the former GAA clubrooms in Scotch Street and played darts for McLeigh’s.
Mr. Thompson was an avid Glasgow Celtic supporter and keen darts player. He also loved going to his local GAA club with his great friend Brian Flynn.
Mr. Thompson, who is survived by his wife Lily, daughters Betty and Catherine and son William, was buried at Struell Cemetery on December 18 following a Mass officiated by Fr. Mulhall.
