Mr. James Thompson
THE death has taken place of Mr. James Patrick Thompson, of Lindisfarne Road, Downpatrick. He was 82.
He passed away at the Downe Hospital on December 15 last year and was known to all as Jimmy. Prior to his retirement worked as a pipe coverer with a number of various firms.
Mr. Thompson, who moved to Downpatrick in 1983, was a doorman at the former RGU GAA clubrooms in Scotch Street and played darts for McLeigh’s. He was an avid Glasgow Celtic supporter and loved going to his local GAA club with his great friend Brian Flynn.
Mr. Thompson, who is survived by his wife Lily, daughter Catherine and son William, was buried at Struell Cemetery on December 18 following requiem mass. Fr. Brendan Mulhall officiated.
