A HIGH Street pizza chain is to open a new store in Downpatrick.

Domino’s has confirmed on social media that it is opening at St Patrick’s Avenue in the town with the new store set to open its doors for business shortly.

The arrival of the leading brand name comes just a few weeks after the Edinburgh Woollen Mill opened a new store at Market Street in the town creating seven new jobs.

Downpatrick councillor, Dermot Curran, said he is pleased High Street names are being attracted to the town and creating new employment opportunities.

“Domino’s is a welcome arrival to Downpatrick and in addition to providing jobs in its new pizzeria, it will no doubt create jobs for delivery drivers as well. A number of empty shops in the town centre have found new tenants recently and this is very encouraging.

“New businesses will increase footfall and hopefully existing businesses will benefit as a result. In the run-up to the busy Christmas period, to secure two High Street brands for Downpatrick is good news. Hopefully more leading brands will be encouraged to invest in the town.”
