Damage to property in village is bad

SIR, — I would appeal to young people to refrain from damaging people’s property and cars at the Westlands estate in Crossgar.

On St Patrick’s night, a number of garden fences were damaged alongside a number of vehicles and this is not the sort of behaviour we want to see in this part of the village where a large percentage of residents are elderly.

It is my understanding that the young people responsible for trouble to do not live at Westlands and while I am not saying they have no right to be there, I would ask them to show a little respect for those who live at this quiet part of the village.

Young people should recognise the importance of showing respect to elderly people and refrain from damaging their property. The recent anti-social behaviour in Westlands is something no one wants to see being repeated.

I would appeal to those responsible for the recent trouble to stop.

Yours etc,

CONCERNED,

Westlands.
