Crossen and Patterson dominant at Killinchy

THE second round of the East Down Inter Club Cycling League was held recently.

It was Killinchy Cycling Club's first time at hosting a time trial, using a new 10-mile course starting at one minute intervals at Shrigley, heading to Darragh Cross for the turn and back to Shrigley for the finish.

It was well attended with 22 riders signing on from Shimna Wheelers and La Lanterne Rouge CC. There were also guests from two other County Down clubs, Velo Club, Iveagh and Dromara. 

For anyone who knows the route, they can say it's not your typical flat TT course. This was a real test for the riders, but luckily it was a glorious, warm evening with little wind.

Some great times were recorded with Killinchy's Paul Crossen and Alan Patterson taking the top two places, third place went to guest rider, Barry Van Kellett from Dromara.

Thanks to Killinchy's Ross Galway for organising this round and also a big thank you to all the marshals, time keepers, photographer and not forgetting the chequered flag girl that made this event a success.

The third round was being hosted last night by Shimna Wheelers at Lackan Road, Castlewellan.
