Council’s exciting programme for arts, culture and museums

16 December 2015

NEWRY Mourne and Down Council has unveiled its first district-wide Arts, Culture and Museums Programme.

Covering January to April 2016, the new season line-up will include events from Newry for the first time.

Speaking at its launch, council chair, councillor Naomi Bailie, said there was something for all tastes in the wide-ranging programme.

“Constituents in the former Down District Council area will be used to the joint Down Arts Centre and Down County Museum Season Programme that was issued three times a year and included events at both

Downpatrick based venues,” she said.

“Now that our district has expanded to incorporate the former Newry and Mourne District area, Council felt it should produce a district wide arts, culture and museums programme to include events at the Sean Hollywood Arts Centre, Newry Town Hall, Warrenpoint Town Hall and Newry and Mourne Museum, to ensure that we offer all who live, work and visit the district, opportunities to engage with arts and culture on a meaningful level.”

Councillor Bailie added: “I hope that by reading this programme you will find something to enjoy, entertain and enlighten you over the coming months. With such a wide array of quality local arts, great comedy, theatre, children’s events and more, there’s certainly enough to keep everyone busy.”
