CORMAC Sharvin more than held his own when he rubbed shoulders with the big boys of the European Tour.
The 23 year-old Ardglass golfer made the cut when he made his European Tour debut at the Perth International tournament in Australia last week.
Sharvin, who was a star of the Great Britain and Ireland team which overwhelmed the United States in last year’s Walker Cup, opened with a sparkling four under par 68 which left him just three shots off the lead after the opening round.
However, a second round three over par 75 meant that he squeezed into the final two days of play after making the cut by a shot.
Two level par rounds at the weekend left him in a five-way tie for 52nd place, 15 shots behind South African winner Louis Oosthuizen.
That earned him prize money of %4,146 and, more importantly, valuable experience of playing high quality tournament golf under pressure.
