Clubhouse on the market

Clubhouse on the market

9 March 2016

DOWNPATRICK Cricket Club’s Strangford Road clubhouse has gone on the market for lease or sale.

Estate agents are seeking expressions of interest for the substantial premises which include a large bar, restaurant, commercial kitchen and function room with ancillary accommodation.

A club spokesman said the property has been placed on the market to determine its true valuation and confirmed that a sale would have no impact on cricket continuing to be played at the ground.

Gavin Weir of GVA NI — one of the agents with joint instructions to market the property — confirmed the club itself was remaining in place but no longer makes full use of the venue.

He said the 7,000 sq ft clubhouse had a guide price of £400,000.

“Like other sports clubs, they have found the clubhouse is surplus to requirements so they want to partner up by selling or leasing the complex. But it is important to stress that the club will remain,” said Mr Weir, who confirmed that a couple of approaches had already been received from potential buyers.

He continued: “There is the possibility of a couple of different uses. It could continue to be used for the hospitality sector, or for day care, or even for use by a church group. We are asking for expressions of interest in it as it can be adapted for so many different end uses.”

Iain McCabe of agents OKT is also instructed to seek expressions of interest for the clubhouse, which boasts extensive on-site parking.
