Cinema owners celebrating after receiving major award

THE owners of the Eclipse Cinema complex in Downpatrick have said they are delighted to have received the Investor in People award.

Last month Eclipse directors, Gerald, Martin and Daniel Barrett were presented with the award at a ceremony in Hillsborough Castle.

Daniel Barrett said in the current economic climate businesses need to be pushing themselves to their limits.

“It is not enough for us to simply show new release movies, we aim to provide superior service to our staff and customers,” he said.

“From the outset we set ourselves a goal to reach a high standard of excellence, and we are delighted to be recognised as Investors in People. Eclipse Cinemas in Downpatrick have already raised the bar, and our next aim is to achieve the Investors in People Bronze award.”

Cinema manager Roisin McManus spoke about the benefits of completing the Investors in People programme.

“There is a wealth of help and support available to businesses in the local area, through programmes such as Investors in People and The Beyond Programme,” she said.

“The dedicated staff of these organisations are eager to help businesses grow and improve, and best of all, the majority of this help and advice is completely free of charge. I would strongly encourage any business to get involved in these programmes.

“There is so much to learn and the networking opportunities are fantastic. Simply going through the Investors in People programme opened our eyes and made us think outside the box. We have implemented a number of different systems internally and the impact on staff morale has been phenomenal”.
