Chinese teacher in visit to local school

16 December 2015

HISTORY was made at Assumption Grammar School last week with the visit of a teacher from the its partner school in China.

Ms Shen Yuxiao, is from Nanfang High in Zhuzhou Province, which is linked with Assumption as part of the British Council’s Connecting Classrooms Project, which aims to enhance collaborative learning in the global community.

This was Ms Shen’s first visit to Europe and she was impressed by the educational experience the Assumption girls enjoy.

Ms Yuxiao shared her own educational experiences with pupils and teachers, and enjoyed the opportunity to see outstanding classroom practice.

Senior Teacher, Linda McMenamin, said this partnership reflected Assumption’s commitment to expanding the global educational experience and to give the girls an insight into another way of life.

“By working together on joint projects, our pupils can gain a greater appreciation of cultural diversity and global issues, and gain greater awareness of their role in the global community,” she said. “We look forward to developing the partnership further.”
