Celts bring season to successful conclusion

31 May 2017

CELTIC Bhoys FC brought the curtain down on another successful season by holding all their junior and senior team presentations last week.

Although the club coaches will now take a break over the summer months the committee is already keen to recruit new volunteers for the forthcoming season. This can be in a coaching, committee or any type of voluntary role that people in the local community may be able to offer.

If anyone would be interested in getting involved in the club please contact Colum Wynn on 07929 267508 or alternatively PM the club’s Facebook page or email celticbhoys@ymail.com

The junior team presentations were held in the Downpatrick Sports Centre and also Brendan’s Bar and Restaurant the weekend before last with a large turnout at each.

The presentations were then rounded off on Friday night with the U-17, U-19 and two senior teams holding their presentation in the Downpatrick Cricket Club.

Again, there was a large turnout for the night and all were in a celebratory mood to toast what has been a successful season for the club at all levels with no fewer than nine trophies being accumulated, including four league titles and a further five cup accolades with three of the club’s teams picking up a league and cup double.

The club would like to thank local Irish League player Conor McMenamin who attended as the special guest on Friday night. The club would also like to thank all the staff at Downpatrick Sports Centre, Brendan’s Bar and Restaurant and the Downpatrick Cricket Club for the excellent service and food provided on each of the presentation evenings.
