Celtic tournament success

Celtic tournament success

22 August 2018

THE club’s fourth annual youth tournament took place in Dunleath Park at the weekend and it was another overwhelming success with 70 teams participating over the course of Friday evening and Saturday morning.

Celtic Bhoys would like to thank all the clubs who participated in the tournament along with the players and spectators who attended on both days.

Furthermore, they would like to thank all all those who worked behind the scenes with the club including Newry, Mourne and Down Council Officials Davy Duggan,Tony McShane, Rita, Lewis and all their support staff for the logistical support and the marking out off the 7-a-side pitches.

Special thanks also goes to the local referees who officiated during the tournament and last, but certainly not least, all the club volunteers who once again outdid themselves to make it all possible.

Training has now recommenced for all the club’s youth teams. The first kickers (6.15pm) and mini soccer teams (7pm) train every Tuesday night in the Downpatrick Sports Centre.

The 9-a-side academy and U-13s will train each Thursday night in the Downpatrick Sports Centre at 6pm. The U-15s train tomorrow night in Dunleath at 6pm and the U-17s train each Wednesday at 6.30pm in Dunleath. Further information on all the youth programmes can be found on the club’s Facebook page.

The first team travel to Carrduff Athletic this Saturday in the league with a 2pm kick off at Loughmoss. The reserve team also get their season underway when they host Stangford with a 2pm kick off in Ballykinlar.

The academy team’s season does not get underway until the following week, but they have a friendly match arranged this weekend.
