Caroline’s ready for the palace

27 July 2016

A BALLYNAHINCH woman will be cycling around Buckingham Palace this weekend.

Caroline Patterson is a finalist in the Prudential RideLondon SuperFinals 2016 on Saturday.

Caroline and her two team-mates, Nick Ryles and Nathan McComb, will be competing for the Belfast Titans and she is the only lady rider in the field.

They will be racing other teams over three laps on a speciality constructed, super fast track.

Caroline is a member of the Loughinisland-based La Lanterne  Rouge Cycling Club.

She qualified for London after winning qualifying events at the Belfast Titanic Centre and Ballyclare.

Amazingly, she only took part at the last-minute. “I went to the Titanic to collect tickets for the Fondo race which was taking place the next day,” she explained.

“I was only wearing a pair of jeans, but I was persuaded to give it a go and I won.”

“I couldn’t believe that I was going to London. It’s going to be interesting.”
