THE annual Vintage, Classic and Sports Car Show held at Newcastle’s Slieve Donard Resort and Spa at the end of January raised £20,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Fifty cars were packed into the hotel’s grand ballroom, spanning 80 years of automotive history and all of them lovingly restored and maintained by their local owners.

Presenting the cheque to Cancer Research UK, Martin Cromwell of the Classics Charity Committee said: “The public never let us down and they came out in their droves once again, helping us raise one of our biggest totals for Cancer Research UK.

“We had a fantastic collection of cars on display this year, so thanks go to all our exhibitors. We’d also thank all our sponsors, particularly Stephen Pollard of our lead sponsor, Autosmart. Without their help, the show couldn’t have happened.
