Ballynahinch volunteers thanked for selfless dedication to project

11 April 2012

VOLUNTEERS and counsellors from a Ballynahinch project, which provides to support to people finding life difficult, have enjoyed an event as guests of Montalto House outside the town.

The Hub is a new -in centre and counselling service, which is funded by the PSNI in association with the Public Health Agency.

It has provided professional counselling to many since it was established as well as providing a drop-in centre for those in need of support.

Its volunteers and members of the Hub’s management board were invited to Montalto House by its owners as an expression of thanks to all the volunteers who have given their time and talents to the organisation’s work.

They were invited by the Wilson family, who are proprietors of Montalto House and who have chosen the Hub as their community charity.

Mr. David Anderson MBE, general manager of Montalto, gave the group a tour of the house, sharing stories of some of the previous residents of the historic property.

He also showed the group a collection of art and furnishings.

Members of the Hub were delighted to welcome special guest Mr. Chris Totten, head of health and social wellbeing improvement for the South Eastern Area Public Health Agency, on the evening.

Mr. Totten said he was encouraged by the way the Hub had progressed over the last few months, having provided professional counselling to many as well as offering a safe place to drop-in for those in need of support.

The centre at 50 Windmill Street, Ballynahinch (off the Windmill Street car park) is currently open on Mondays from 10am – noon, and from 2pm – 4pm, as well as on Thursdays from 9am –11.30am, 2pm – 4pm and 7pm – 9pm.
