A STUDENT at Shimna Integrated College in Newcastle has been accepted to take part in an exclusive business programme at Queen’s University Belfast.

Aurora Milligan Symington will participate in the BDO and Queen’s Business School Business Insight programme next month.

It will give Aurora a taste of what it’s like to be a business student at Queen’s and give her a head start in the business world.

She will work on a real-life business case study, develop teamwork, critical thinking, analytical and communication skills.

Aurora will also receive high-performance coaching from Phil Glasgow, who is head of performance support at the Irish Rugby Football Union.

Phil will share his insights on teamwork and lead bespoke sessions in the world of accountancy and business.

The opportunity will allow for Aurora to get a feel for what a career in business is all about while gaining hands-on experience that is invaluable to her entering the workplace in a matter of years.

Shimna Integrated College assistant vice-principal Joanne Poland said: “We are so proud of Aurora achieving this place on the QUB Business Insight programme.

“Our other Sixth Form students who have attended QUB programmes this year said it was a brilliant experience and that they enjoyed and learnt so much from it.”
