Angela Bardon

IT was with great sadness that the communities of Newcastle and Downpatrick learned about the death of Angela Bardon (née Magee) at the age of just 42.

Angela passed away on Sunday, March 23, following a six year battle with cancer.

Her death came as a surprise to her loved ones despite the suffering and trials faced during her illness.

However, she remained positive and resolute to her peaceful passing at home.

Angela was born on May 6, 1971, in Portadown. She was the daughter of Con, who recently passed away, and Margaret Magee.

She was educated at the Convent of Mercy Primary School in Downpatrick and then attended Assumption Grammar School in Ballynahinch and the University of Ulster where she gained her degree in psychology.

Angela started her working life as a numeracy and literacy tutor at Hugh J. O’Boyle Training Ltd. and went on to work as an essential skills tutor at South Eastern Regional College.

She touched many of those whom she tutored through her dedication and love of enabling people to achieve their educational goals.

Many of Angela’s work colleagues from her 20 year employment were present at her funeral to share her memories and pay their respects.

Angela met Richard on a night out in Newcastle and they married in Rome in November 2001. They went on to have their three children Pierce, Tierna and Aodhan.

Angela enjoyed music concerts and car boot sales and as a hobby she enjoyed ceramics, pottery and art courses, which she enjoyed at home with her children.

Her funeral took place at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Newcastle on March 26.

Fr. Declan Mulligan officiated and spoke of Angela’s great faith.

Angela faced her illness with great strength, belief and dignity, lovingly supported by her husband, Richard, and their children, family and friends.

She was buried at St. Patrick’s cemetery in Bryansford. Her month’s mind mass will take place on Sunday, April 20, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, at 11.30am.

Angela was predeceased by her father Con.

She leaves behind her loving husband Richard, sons Pierce and Aodhan and daughter Tierna, her mother Margaret, her sisters Maria and Julie and brother Conan, father and mother-in-law Jack and Rita Bardon, brothers—in-law Sean, Denis, Paul, Jim and Noel, sisters-in-law Rosie, Jackie and Eileen, nephews and nieces and the wider family circle.

Angela’s good nature, kindness and love will be sadly missed.
