Aimee’s a snip above the rest as she donates hair to charity

FABULOUS fundraiser Aimee Rhodes has donated over 14 inches of her hair to help young cancer sufferers.

Aimee’s prized locks will now be used to make wigs for young people going through cancer treatment after being donated to the charity, The Little Princess Trust.

The Downpatrick nine year-old has also raised £852 for the charity by setting up a fundraising website page and holding a series of fundraising events to support the charity.

Aimee initially aimed for £350 when she began collected by going door-to-door asking for donations. She was boosted by help from friends, family and people who had read her story online and wanted to help.

She reached £350 in no time but people just kept on giving.

“She has done amazingly well and everyone is so proud of her,” said Aimee’s mum, Patricia.

Patricia said there were a few tears when the day of the hair cut came, both with the sadness of losing her beautiful hair but also with the positive comments made by her supporters on Facebook.

Michael Dryden, of Michael and Francienne’s Hair and Nails made the cut of 14 inches and styled her new hair into something fit for a princess.

“I would like to thank everyone that sponsored her and sent lovely messages of support,” added Patricia.

Aimee has now made enough money to allow two wigs to be supplied to a young person who has lost hair through treatment for cancer.
