6 December 2017

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic accident in Castlewellan on Monday.

Sean Fegan, who was in his 50s, died in the one vehicle collision at Carnreagh Road between 9.30am and 10am on Monday. The road was closed for several hours following the crash.

Constable Trevor Fletcher has appealed to anyone who was travelling on the Carnreagh Road and who may have witnessed the collision involving a purple coloured Isuzu pick-up truck which was towing a trailer at the time, to contact officers at the collision investigation unit in Sprucefield on 101, quoting reference 297 04/12/17.

South Down MP Chris Hazzard has expressed his shock at news of the sudden death.

“Sean was a much loved and respected member of our local community,” he said.

“Today’s news has come as a great shock and there is a strong sense of sadness in the wider Drumsnade and Edendarriff area tonight. His family are very much in the thoughts and prayers of everyone at this tough time.”
