RESIDENTS in Strangford have welcomed the provision of a new shrub bed at the Upper Green area in the village. The new floral display has been provided by Down Council and was officially unveiled last week.
Councillor Gareth Sharvin described the new planting scheme as a welcome addition to the Upper Green area and said it will complement a number of neighbouring planted areas.
“The bed was provided following a campaign by local residents
who wanted the misuse of this part of the Upper Green stopped,” he explained.
Councillor Sharvin said that in the past, homes and cars were damaged by people playing football at this part of Strangford.
He added: “The provision of the new planting bed was delivered as a result of a community-led campaign.
