Vintage fashion event showcasing yesteryear elegance

4 March 2020

A CHARITY fashion show featuring all the elegance of the 1940s and 1950s is coming to Downpatrick next month.

The St Patrick Centre is the venue for a vintage spring fashion show on Saturday, April 4.

The gala evening is being organised by Living Vintage and is part of the Down Syndrome Association’s 50th birthday celebrations.

Living Vintage is a not for profit organisation and all monies raised on the evening will go to the Down Syndrome Association and Centre for

Cancer Research and Cell Biology at Queen’s University Belfast.

Living Vintage is a travelling fashion show owned by sisters Bridget Owens and Marian Keenan.

Models put on the style and show off a magnificent collection of some of the most stylish haute couture of the Forties and Fifties in a great atmosphere of fun and nostalgia.

Living Vintage has enjoyed very successful sell-out shows in the Grand Opera House, Belfast, local hotels and at various venues throughout Ireland.

The fashions are modelled with the air, grace and femininity that the era was known for. The audience will get an insight into the fashions of the day and relive the beauty of this bygone era.

Bridget said: ”Living Vintage evenings are great fun with plenty of laughs and many happy nostalgic memories.

“We are extremely proud of our collection of authentic forties and fifties fashion and all the outfits are accessorised with the appropriate vintage hats, gloves, bags, jewellery and of course, seamed stockings.

The evening will showcase day dresses, suits, evening  and cocktail wear and is rounded off by a stunning bridal show.

Tickets cost £20 each and will be available at the door. However, they will be sold in a first come, first served basis and early booking is advisable, given the limited seating.

Doors open from 7pm and guests will be greeted and served beverages by the models in evening wear.

During the interval ‘treats and eats’, both savoury and sweet, will be offered upstairs in Ryan’s Garden Café. There will be a grand raffle and those attending are encouraged to dress in vintage  outfits.

Tickets are available from the St Patrick Centre, Market Street, Downpatrick, BT30 6LZ,  telephone 028 4461 9000 or 07771 888641.
