Tyrella beach is spotless thanks to efforts of staff

STAFF at Tyrella beach have been praised for maintaining high standards of cleanliness during what was one of the hottest Julys on record.

While tourists left rubbish strewn over a number of local beauty spots during last month’s heat wave, staff at Tyrella worked hard to keep the picturesque beach tidy.

Councillor Liam Johnston said while tourists left rubbish at a number of local beauty spots, Tyrella remained serenely clean thanks to the hard efforts of staff.

“It’s important we congratulate the work of the staff employed at Tyrella, especially during one of its most busiest times ever,” he continued.

“They have helped make people’s visit to the beach an enjoyable experience. The staff were not only helpful and pleasant to everyone, but constantly emptying bins and picking litter from morning until evening.”

Councillor Johnston also suggested the management model in place at Tyrella could be rolled out across the district’s other beaches.

He continued: “At a time when Down Council is trying to promote tourism, Tyrella provided a pleasurable experience for visitors. I also saw a number of people from outside our district making return visits there.”

Councillor Johnston said he plans to raise his management issue suggestion at a forthcoming meeting of the local authority.
