Sally Ann is spot on

27 February 2019

FORTY years of patient waiting ended for Spa member Sally Ann Douglas last week when she recorded her first hole-in-one of her golfing career.

The club’s former lady captain hit the perfect shot at the par three eight hole in a game partnered by Joe and Marlene Crawford.

“I used a pitching wedge and Marlene and I watched it all the way until it landed in the cup,” she said. “I just thought, brilliant. At long last.”

But golf is in Sally Ann’s blood. Her 84-year old mother, Dorothy Walsh, is still playing on a regular basis at her home club at Rathfarnham, Dublin, having taken up the game 75 years ago.

Spa ladies will recall how Dorothy was guest of honour at Sally Ann’s Lady Captain’s Day in 2015 where she charmed everyone with her friendly personality and good humour.
