Runners set for Three Lakes Challenge

17 April 2019

ORGANISERS are busily preparing for next month’s annual Three Lakes Challenge event outside Downpatrick which will be raising money for Mainstay DRP.

Now it is seventh year and organised by Downpatrick Lions Club, the hugely popular 15K race starts and finishes at the Lakeside Inn on Saturday, May 11.

The picturesque course takes runners past Ballydugan, Magheralagan and Loughinisland lakes, with the race, sponsored by Strangford Fuels and D&N Blinds in partnership with AtlasRunning, East Down Athletic Club and the Lakeside Inn, getting underway at 11am.

In addition to the 15k event, there is also a 7k run and 7k walk with all competitors chipped to record their times. Medals will be awarded and there will be a free hot dog for all competitors at the finish line.

Organisers are promising something for everyone and a warm welcome awaits all runners and walkers helping to raise funds for the designated charity.

In addition, members of the public, friends and supporters are welcome to attend and refreshments will be available at the Lakeside Inn following the event.

Participants can register online at www.sientries.co.uk or www.atlasrunning.co.uk where there is a link to a JustGiving page should anyone wish to donate to the charity.

Alternatively, runners and walkers can email Adrian at atlas@running.co.uk or telephone 07876 560015 for further information. Participants can also register on the day at the Lakeside Inn.

Anyone interested in joining Downpatrick Lions Club to help raise funds for the local community is asked to contact Brendan on 07809 728102.
