THE party lasted long into the night at Ballymacarn Park as Ballynahinch celebrated a clean sweep of victories on Saturday.
Three trophies were claimed on the day which showcased the strength in depth of the club.
The senior side finished the regular season with a home win over Young Munster to build confidence heading into the AIL Division 1A relegation play-off with UCC.
A try from returning U-20 star Josh Hanlon and four well-taken penalties from Conor Rankin proved enough to see off their Limerick opponents.
The home side were decked out in limited edition jerseys to support the MyName5Doddie foundation.
As results elsewhere began to trickle through to the clubhouse the party mood started to build.
The fourths claimed the first trophy of the day as Marty O’Neill raised the Forster Plate after a 31-28 victory over a strong Instonians third XV.
Kieran McCauley was the hero with a hat-trick of tries to go with scores from Owen Wright and Mark McAleenan. O’Neill weighed in with three conversions.
This was closely followed by the news that Andy Simpson’s third XV had won the Crawford Cup with a hard fought 18-13 win over Clogher Valley seconds.
Despite being dominated for the first 20 minutes they used all their experience to battle back into the contest. Tries from Conor Gibson and Jack Carlisle, added to eight points from the boot of Matthew Norton, sealed another Crawford Cup for the club.
The local faithful then had to wait for news of the fifths. Philip Armstrong’s side kicked off at 5pm against Inishowen and completed the clean sweep with a 23-12 victory.
Fraser Bowsie, Ewen Keers and Brian Howard got the tries with Armstrong knocking over two penalties and a conversion to seal a rare McCambley Cup win.
A big crowd remained at the club to welcome home the trophies and it was great to see players from all teams celebrating together.
