National Play Day fun-filled events throughout area

7 August 2019

NEWRY, Mourne and Down Council is marking National Play Day with a series of exciting and fun-filled activities across the district this week.

National Play Day is traditionally held at the beginning of August across the UK and is an opportunity for children to develop relationships, deal with conflict and learn respect and tolerance.

This year’s theme is ‘Play Builds Children’ as play is a great way for children to enjoy activities and make connections with others.

The activities to mark the day will include climbing walls, archery, multi-sports and bush craft and there will be plenty for older children and adults to enjoy, including yogalates, step aerobics and Zumba.

Events are being held today at Meadows Playing Field, Ardglass, from 12-3pm; tomorrow at Castlewellan Community Centre, from 12-3pm, and on Friday at Delamont Country Park, Killyleagh, from 12-3pm.
