Mrs Mary Leavy

MRS Mary Leavy, of Dromore Street, Ballynahinch, who died recently, was a much loved woman who will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

Mrs Leavy, who was born in 1943 and was originally from Crossgar, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a prolonged illness in Downe Hospital on March 3.

She worked for many years as a nursing auxiliary at Purdysburn Hospital where she was a highly respected member of the staff and faithfully cared for others up to her retirement in 2010.

Mary, above all else, treasured her role as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother of an extended family.

She was a loving wife to her husband, William, and a devoted mother to daughters Fiona, Hannah, Kelly Ann and Leona, and sons David and Martin.

She thoroughly enjoyed the companionship of her family and friends, and was never happier when those she thought the world of were around her. She had a kind word for everyone, enjoyed a chat or a joke, showed compassion and concern to all and always enjoyed a bit of ‘craic.’

Mary has left a great unfilled void in the lives of her family, but happy memories of her will be remembered and treasured forever.
