Mrs. Georgina Wade (An appreciation)

GEORGINA Wade was a people person all her life.

She revelled in the company of her peers whether at a social gathering, an auction or a car book sale.

For her the open road leading to a function where items were bought or sold was probably her idea of Heaven and, with her husband Bob, she enjoyed her travels to the full, until ill health recently forced her to slow down.

Her untimely death takes from us a person who had an encyclopaedic knowledge of auctions, antiques and practically anything that came under the auctioneer’s hammer.

Georgina was a kind person; a considerate person and indeed very much a family person.

For ever will I be in her debit for the various advice given to me on what to buy or sell and the titbits of information which helped me fill a weekl auctions and antiques column in the Belfast Telegraph.

Her passing leaves a gap in the sales scene but her many friends and auction adversaries will cherish the character and the craic which she brought to that scene.

For she had a good eye for a bargain, a trait that made many of us jealous of her.

To Bob and the extended family the condolences of a very wide sales world are extended.

Michael J. Drake.
