Mr Pat Burns

THE death has taken place recently of Mr Pat Burns, of Slieveniskey Road, Castlewellan.

Mr Burns, who was 76, passed away at his home on June 13.

Born on October 1, 1940, to Mickey and Mary Burns, he was raised on the family farm in the Slieve Croob hills, a farm he worked on throughout his life and on which he was active until shortly before his death.

He was well known and respected within the farming community, not only in the Slieve Croob area, but wider afield in County Down.

He is survived by his wife, Annie, son Brendan, daughter-in-law Claire, grandchildren Caitlin and Darragh, in Gillingham; son Declan, daughter-in-law Ciara and grandchildren Joe and Isla, Backaderry; son Conor, daughter-in-law Colleen and grandchildren Rosie and Maisie, Slieveniskey; and also by his brother, Martin and sister Mary.

He is predeceased by granddaughter Annie, and brothers James, Gerard, Colm and Mike.

His funeral service on June 15 took place in St Mary of the Angels Church, Clanvaraghan.
