Mr Kenneth Rodgers

THE sudden death of Mr Kenneth Rodgers at his home, 2 Cluntagh Road, Ballynahinch, on July 13  has evoked much sadness. A kind, thoughtful
and considerate man, he had many friends. He was 67.

Mr Rodgers was born on December 9, 1948, the eldest child of Cecil and Nan Rodgers. A lorry driver by profession, he began his working career at JN Browns in Ballynahinch and later became a valued employee at McCalls (Clough), RM Concrete and Cemex.

He was the chairman of Ballynahinch Vintage Club and Ploughing Society and thoroughly enjoyed going to ploughing matches and tractor road runs. He loved his tractor and chopping wood, which he would personally deliver to near and far.

He was a faithful member of Loughaghery Presbyterian Church and served on the church committee. He enjoyed helping with the church catering and made sure that everyone got a seat and a cup of tea.

Mr Rodgers was also chairman of Dunmore Rural Association, a Past Master of Dunmore LOL 1454, a Past Master of Black Chapter 103, a Past Excellent King of Spa Royal Arch Chapter 703 and a Past Master of Eden-na-vadie Masonic Lodge 717.

A gentleman in every respect, he always found the time to visit the sick or offer a lift to anyone in need of a hospital appointment. Indeed, to anyone in need of any kind, his answer was a willing yes.

The large number of people who attended the funeral service in Loughaghery Presbyterian Church on July 17 and attended the family home was testimony to the respect and affection in which he was held.

The funeral service was conducted by the Rev Leslie Patterson, who spoke highly of Mr Rodgers and said everyone would miss him.

Mr Rodgers is survived by his wife, Mabel.
