Model display show for Air Ambulance

4 March 2020

A MODEL display show featuring some rare Corgi models, farm animals, buildings and machinery will be on display at a fundraiser in Dromara this Saturday.

The village’s Second Presbyterian Church Hall is the venue for the fundraiser, which is in aid of Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.

The event is being organised by Mr Samuel Dougan and the church hall is expected to be packed with exhibitors and enthusiasts.

He said people from across Northern Ireland have been in touch and hopes to raise as much as he can for the air ambulance which has already helped save a number of lives since its introduction.

Mr Dougan expects up to 20 exhibitors with a range of models on display, alongside a unique collection of Corgi models which will be available for sale, with all proceeds also going to the designated charity.

The show in now its second year and Mr Dougan is hoping to raise as much as he can for the air ambulance which he has witnessed in operation.

“I have witnessed the paramedics on board the aircraft respond to a road accident,” he explained. “The air ambulance is a vitally important  lifesaving service for Northern Ireland and very worthy of the public’s support.”

Mr Dougan said he is delighted that he has been given a number of late 1960s Corgi models for the weekend show by a man who had been collecting them.

“Corgis were one of the first companies to make models and I have no doubt many people will be anxious to the see the models that I have been given. I cannot thank the gentleman who donated them enough,” he continued.

“The models will be sold with all the money going to the air ambulance. I hope that the fundraiser will be a great success and that people who come along will really enjoy themselves.”

Admission to Saturday’s event — which runs from 11am until 6pm — is £5 for adults with children under 16 admitted free. A selection of refreshments will also be available on the day.
