MISS Sarah Jane (Sadie) Brown, of 70 Dunmore Road, Spa, Ballynahinch, passed away in Fishbourne House Nursing Home, Spa. She was 88.
Miss Brown, who was a former secretary in Stranmillis College, was a remarkably active lady who had many interests.

She was lifelong member of the church choir, served on the congregational committee and was a former secretary and president of Presbyterian Women. She was also the freewill offering secretary, a Sunday School teacher and later Sunday School superintendent.
Miss Brown involved herself in fundraising activities for the church. She organised the annual Christmas antiques fair in Ballynahinch and was also involved in the running of the Spa car boot sales.
She formed Spa Girl Guides, of which she was in charge from 1955 to 1994. She was also a member of Seaforde Women’s Institute and in 2013 won the Mary Boyd International Trophy for creating a bag made out of ties. Other interests included, arts, crafts and antiques.
The Rev David Hyndman conducted the very largely attended funeral service in Spa Presbyterian Church on December 28, which was followed by interment in Old Magheradroll graveyard.
Miss Brown is survived by her brother, William, sister-in-law, Evelyn, nieces, Lorraine Bothwell and Rosemary Lunn, and by her nephew, James.
She will be sadly missed by her family and by the community in Spa and the surrounding area.
