A PLAQUE has been erected in memory of a Crossgar businessman who was murdered by terrorists in his butcher’s shop in 1994.
Relatives of Mr. Trelford Withers, who was a part-time member of the UDR, gathered at the War Memorial Hall in the village last week for the unveiling ceremony.
The plaque was erected by the Crossgar War Memorial Community Hall Committee and the Regimental Association of the Ulster Defence Regiment.
Members of the Withers family say are touched by the gesture to erect a plaque in the War Memorial Hall in memory of their late father.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Withers’ son Mark and his daughters Joyce, Dawn and Hazel and representatives from the UDR Regimental Association.
