Man remanded on drugs allegations

A CASTLEWELLAN man has appeared in court accused of possessing 1001 diazepam tablets with intent to supply.

Dylan Mulholland (20), of Bann Road, was arrested after a search in the Shimna area of Newcastle on Saturday.

The tablets were found in a car and later in a house search.

Mulholland was also charged with possessing a small amount cannabis and driving while unfit on the Shimna Road in Newcastle when he appeared at Ards Magistrate’s Court on Monday. He had been held in custody after arrest.

Pleas were not entered to the charges but the court heard he told police the drugs were for his own personal use.

Due to a problem with a suitable bail address Mulholland was remanded in custody, to appear in Downpatrick Court again via video link on August 6.

A 17 year-old man arrested in connection with the incident has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
