Magnificent seven for Ballynahinch

Magnificent seven for Ballynahinch

3 October 2018

BALLYNAHINCH kept their 100% record on Saturday, sweeping aside their derby rivals with ease.

The ‘Hinch ran riot for 70 minutes, never looking like they were going go leave with anything less than three points.

It didn’t take long for Ballynahinch to take the lead. Stuart Hunter opened the scoring after a Matthew Martin’s short corner shot found Hunter’s stick to make it 1-0.

Minutes later Matthew Martin made it 2-0 when his sweet reverse side shot rattled the backboard. Scott Leetch kept his impressive start to the season going when he made 3-0 after great work from Jason Campbell.

Andrew McIlwaine got on the score sheet to make it 4-0 after Leslie Harrison’s hard work down the right flank.

Ballynahinch were solid all day only to be robbed of a clean sheet by a rare short corner goal from Down’s Chris Taylor.

Down made it easier for ‘Hinch after Kyle Patterson got himself an unnecessary red card after several mis-timed tackles.

Ballynahinch made many changes, bringing on Lawrence Patterson, who has been recovering from knee surgery and Jason’s Campbell’s hard graft was rewarded with a goal his reverse side scoop beat the Down ‘keeper to make it 5-1

Club record goal scorer William Edgar got in on the act when  he made it 6-1 with a reverse side shot and Leetch completed the bombardment with superb strike.

A fantastic performance from Ballynahinch with all the players working hard and putting a great shift in when needed the most.

‘Hinch are back on the astro turf this week at home to Armagh.

Thanks to the all the traveling support on Saturday, much appreciated by all the players.
