THE Loughinisland Justice Group were among the thousands made their way to Derry on Sunday to mark the 40th anniversary of Bloody Sunday.
Having been invited to speak at the commemoration, the Loughinisland families said their campaign had been reinvigorated in the wake of the Police Ombudsman’s heavily criticised report into the 1994 UVF massacre.
The group reiterated their demand for the immediate resignation of the Ombudsman, Mr. Al Hutchinson.
Moira Casement, niece of Loughinisland victim Barney Green, said: “The courage and determination of the Derry families has been, and always will be, a guiding light for all of us, and this simple exchange of solidarity will stay with us on the long road ahead.
“Indeed, as we continue our search for truth and justice for those murdered in Loughinisland in 1994, we are heartened in the knowledge that we can rely on the people of Derry for support and guidance.
“Al Hutchinson must make a clean break and go immediately. There is no faith in him, he continues to undermine the credibility of the office and as a result adds further insult and injury to the families who have been victims of state collusion.”
