KAYDEN Blaney scored the goal of the night as the Killyleagh Summer Football League entered its third week of action last Wednesday.
Action took place across five pitches at the Bridge Centre playing fields in this year’s summer scheme which is being supported by Dr Terry Cross of the David Cross Foundation for Peace and Reconciliation.
Playing in the senior section – for boys and girls aged from P5 to P7 – Kayden Blaney helped himself to three goals, including a spectacular solo effort.
It was the seniors who provided the skills and goals galore, with Oran McCleod, Jake Stronge, Lloyd Barker, Alex Moore and Tajus Ramamaus all in the one side proving too strong for the opposition.
Sam Bridges, Harry Anderson, Tyler Terry, Harry Simpson played well for their teams while brothers Liam and Mason Henderson refused to be beaten. Top marks too to Bailey Withers and Jake Craig who played the captain’s part to the full.
Special mentions too for goalkeeper Ollie Nelson, Artur Bondarenko and Corey Hilditch.
For the girls, Caoimhe Sharvin, Cara Carlisle, Kora Murray, Scarlett Lawthor, Amy Quinn. The senior penalty king was Alex Moore.
Coach Patricia Hamilton has got some extra help which has allowed us to split the tinies section with the tots now having their own pitch.
Once again it was the goalkeeping of Charlotte Bennett and Eliza Cheevers which earned rave reviews this week.
In the tinies, special mention this week to Jake Killops and Arabella Thompson.
Alyvia-Beth Thompson, Eloise Reid, Demi-Rose Breen, Maddy Ryan, Bella Henderson, Amelia Munyangaju, Milana Malviichuk, Megan Watters and Myla Killops starred in the minor section with record numbers taking part.
Leyton Savage was the top scorer on the night with outstanding performances too from Jacob Walsh, Matthew Quinn, Riley Pickering, Finlay Ayton, Kai Gordon and Jacob Watters.
Great effort too from twin brothers Viktor and Ilia Viktor Berezvn.
There were four penalty kings Viktor, Finlay Ayton, Leyton Savage and Reilly Pickering with Demi-Rose Breen the penalty queen.
There was a dramatic finale to the P4 junior action as the winners came back from two goals down to win 3-2. Among those in form this week were Jacob Munyangaju and Ivy Murray. The penalty queen was Kate Green.
Parents are asked to keep an eye on the Killyleagh Summer League Facebook page for photos and regular updates on weather and games, especially on Wednesdays. On nights of very heavy rain, there will be no action.
