Increased prizes for Jimmy’s 10K on Mother’s Day

15 February 2012

JIMMY’S Ten hits the roads again on Sunday, March 18, and thanks to the continuing generosity of its principal sponsor, M. B. McGrady & Co, Chartered Accountants, St. Patrick’s Avenue, Downpatrick, it promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Increased bonus prizes of £100 for new race records in both male and female categories and special awards to commemorate the club’s 25th anniversary are on offer as well as the usual top prizes for male and female winners.

Additionally, every finisher will be entered in a draw for a travel voucher to the value of £700 ,but to qualify for the prize, the owner of the number drawn must be present at the prize giving in Down Leisure Centre.

After their popular introduction last year, the race will again feature pacers for those aiming for sub 40, sub 45, sub 48, sub 50, and sub 60 minute targets. This is the only 10K to offer this feature so make the most of your opportunity to beat the clock.

Entries are limited to 600 runners and those intending to run are advised to get in early as entries will only be taken on the day if this limit has not been reached and then only at an increased fee of £20. Register online at www.spanglefish.com/eastdownac

Of course, walkers are welcome too and have turned out in considerable numbers in previous years and they can enter online or on the day, but should start 10.30am and will receive a special certificate of completion and will be included in the draw.

For those who have not yet graduated to the 10k distance and for the U-15s, why not join up with a friend, son, daughter and take part in the two-leg relay, each running 5K.

Running numbers, timing chip and this year’s special memento can be collected at the registration desks in Down Leisure Centre from 9.30am onwards on the morning of the race.

The usual legendary refreshments for all competitors will be on offer in Down Leisure Centre afterwards.

As it’s also Mother’s Day, specially arranged so that running mothers and their families can get into the party mood before going off to enjoy the rest of their day, special acknowledgements will be presented to all mothers participating.
