Heavy home loss for weak Kilclief

Heavy home loss for weak Kilclief

2 May 2012

LOUGHINISLAND claimed the two league points on Monday night with a 5-6 to 0-10 victory over a struggling Kilclief side.

They say goals win games and this was never more evident in a first half in which the visitors netted three times in the opening 20 minutes, thanks to Conor O’Reilly, Sean O’Reilly and Rory Mason. These three body blows for Kilclief went a long way to deciding the outcome of this game.

The home side opened the scoring with a fine Aidan McCann point before the Blues hit two goals and a point.

Kilclief recovered well and hit back manfully with three Kieran Polly points and two from Ricky Kerr.

Dale Curran and Conor Sloan then slotted over minor scores to keep Kilclief in contention. Kilclief created plenty of chances in the closing stages of the half, but the gap could not be closed.

Loughinisland went in at the break 3-1 to 0-8 ahead, having played against the breeze in the first half.

Points from Ben and Conor O’Reilly soon after the restart put paid to any hope of a comeback for Kilclief.

Two Kieran Polly frees turned out to be the only scores for the home side in a disappointing second half performance as Loughinisland won with style.
