AN enthusiastic audience gathered in Castlewellan Castle to launch the town’s 47th agricultural show which takes place on Saturday, July 19.
Target Dry was announced as a new major sponsor for this year and a display of clothing and outdoor wear were on display from this Belfast based company.
Speakers included show chairwoman Michelle McCauley, show patron broadcaster Karen Patterson along with John Bamber, past President of the RUAS, Jim Harrison President of ISA and Gareth Sharvin, vice chairman of Down Council.
There was a great acknowledgement of the success of last year’s show and the additional dynamic which appearing on the Farm Fixer programme brought with it. There was also high praise for the many volunteers who support the Show as well as the broad range of sponsors without whom the Show could not happen. Serving as a firm foundation for this year, speakers were optimistic about July and extolled the fondness which many people have for the Castlewellan Show.
Neil Weir outlined the plans of the new Youth Committee which is planning a variety of events including a best dressed animal competition.
