Fourth ace for Gibson

Fourth ace for Gibson

3 October 2018

BRITISH and European wheelchair golf champion Mark Gibson has just claimed the fourth hole-in-one of his career.

The Spa Golf Club member used a 28 degree rescue club to hit the perfect shot at Spa’s par three, 126-yard eighth hole.

Mark was playing in the Brian Irvine Trophy competition in the company of Ken McCluskey and Ken Reid.

“The flag was just behind the bunker so I didn’t see the ball into the hole, but I was sort of hopeful that it would drop,” he said.

“My playing partners couldn’t see where the ball landed either but they said it wouldn’t be far from the pin,” he added.

But Mark is very philosophical about his latest achievement — his second hole-in-one this year.

“It’s great to hit a hole in one but there is always an element of luck in it,” he said.

Mark, who plays his golf one-handed, sitting in a specially adapted electric buggy, was congratulated by club captain John Robinson, who described him as a great sportsman who was “a real credit” to Spa.
