Dressage Grand Prix dream comes true

1 September 2021

A CROSSGAR woman has achieved a lifetime ambition by riding in a top grade dressage competition.

Barbara Ellison competed in her first Grand Prix class on her horse Jaydancer at the Leinster dressage competition at Redhills Stud, Co Kildare, recently.

Barbara (48), who has trained horses and riders, as well as competing for over 20 years, said competing at Grand Prix level had been her dream.

She joins an elite band of riders in Ireland who have trained a horse to and competed at this top level.

Barbara described Jaydancer, who she has owned since she was an unbroken three year-old, as her best friend.

“Jaydancer was very happy to show the judge her new skills,” a delighted Barbara said.

“Jaydancer loves her dressage and has no idea how much happiness she has brought to my life.”
