Down Leisure Centre lights up blue in memory of Noah

DOWN Leisure Centre in Downpatrick was illuminated blue last Saturday evening in remembrance of Belfast schoolboy Noah Donohoe who tragically died in June.

The Market Street facility was lit up by Newry, Mourne and Down Council chairwoman Laura Devlin.

She said Noah’s disappearance sparked a huge community response across Northern Ireland with a ‘Remembering Noah’ campaign started by the 14-year-old’s mother Fiona.

“This illumination marked nine weeks since young Noah went missing and it is hoped it will help create awareness for the ongoing appeal for information surrounding his death,” said Cllr Devlin.

“As a mother, I am devastated at the loss that Fiona Donohoe is going through and would like to extend my support to her and her family.”

The council chairwoman said that illuminating local authority buildings, including Newry Town Hall, was both to honour Noah’s memory and to raise awareness of the continuing appeal for information.

She also issued a reminder that people across the district can continue to raise awareness about Noah by using #remembermynoah.

Cllr Devlin added: “I would appeal to anyone with any evidence or information in respect of Noah’s disappearance to bring this immediately to the authorities.”
