MEMBERS of Ballynahinch Diabetic Group enjoyed a talk by Mr. Brendan Heaney, from Diabetes UK Policy and Public Affairs, during their recent April meeting.
Mr. Heaney, who works in the organisation’s New Voices for Diabetes Department, spoke about the ways they are helping to improve the quality of life for diabetics.
He said his department is campaigning for insulin pumps to be more available in Northern Ireland, particularly for children who could keep their conditions controlled with the pumps and therefore avoid complications from their illness and told the group that such pumps are automatically provided to all children in Poland and Germany.
The group’s final meeting of the season will take place at 8pm on May 14 in the Community Centre when there will be a special night of music, song and poems.
At that meeting, Mr. Robert Patton will speak about his own journey with diabetes. Everyone is welcome.
