ANNAHILT driver Daniel Harper has been chosen to continue as a member of the British Racing Drivers’ Club’s coveted SuperStars programme for 2021.
Recognised by the prestigious club as one of the most exciting young talents in British motorsport, the 20 year-old extends an association with the BRDC that began when he was selected to join their Rising Stars programme three years ago.
Created in 2008, the unique BRDC SuperStars programme aims to develop the most promising young drivers across all classes of racing, with former members including current Formula 1 stars George Russell and Lando Norris.
Under the mentorship of programme director Andy Meyrick, BRDC SuperStars receive tailored help with mental and physical training, sponsorship, media and public relations.
They are also able to network with other BRDC members at multiple events through the year.
Daniel said: “I’m really excited to be part of the BRDC SuperStars again this year.
“It’s a fantastic programme to be part of, and with only 13 drivers selected from across British motorsport, it’s an honour to be part of it and to continue representing the BRDC whilst racing in Germany.
“It’s been brilliant working with Andy [Meyrick] and the team so far and they’ve been giving me some great advice on how to progress in my career.
“Hopefully there’ll be some more opportunities to meet all the SuperStars this year and participate in more BRDC events.”
The announcement comes as Harper continues preparing for the 2021 season and steps up to the highest class in modern GT racing for the first time.
He’ll contest a full Nürburgring Endurance Series season and the 24 Hour race in a BMW M6 GT3.
Daniel recently completed a two-month fitness and mental training camp at Formula Medicine in Italy, as well as heading to the Circuito Monteblanco in Spain to complete a week of development testing with BMW Motorsport.
He has now returned to Germany with his team-mates in the BMW Junior Team to continue their preparations on and off track ahead of the opening round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series on March 27.
“It’s been great to be back with the BMW Motorsport team,” Daniel said.
“The test in Spain was a great chance to all work together again and conduct some important development work for BMW in their M2 CS Racing and M4 GT4 cars.
“The team at Formula Medicine put us through an extensive training camp and I personally feel more prepared than ever before heading into a new season.”
He added: “We’ve got a busy few weeks ahead as we get acquainted with our M6 GT3 and BMW Team RMG ahead of the season opener. I can’t wait.”
